Curriculums We’ve Used

Here is a list of curriculums that we’ve used at one time or another during our homeschool journey.

Teaching How to Read

Writing & Spelling

Math

I am not an advocate for spending a lot of money on buying large curriculum sets. But, math is one subject that I highly recommend finding a curriculum that fits your child and sticking with it when possible. It’s not recommended to switch back and forth between different math curriculums because each company plans their scope and sequence differently, and your child might have gaps in their learning from switching.

  • Singapore Math (I’ve done K-5th, U.S. Edition)
  • Right Start Math *this is an affiliate link and I may receive compensation for your purchases (This has been, hands-down, my favorite approach to teaching math. It’s an abacus-based approach and uses games to teach math skills, not workbooks and “drill-and-kill” strategies. I’m even learning so much about math as an adult! If you’re looking for a math curriculum that doesn’t include a lot of writing but instead more game and play time, check out this award-winning approach to math.)
  • Teaching Textbooks (3.0 online version)

Science

History/Geography

Extras

  • The Good & the Beautiful Typing Course
  • Outschool Online Classes
  • Art For Kids Hub (YouTube channel)
  • Beautiful Feet Books My approach to schooling is to create literature-based learning for my kids. What I mean by that is to find delightful, living books for my kids to read. I don’t want to put a textbook in front of their noses to help them learn history and science. I want to give them beautifully illustrated and written picture books when possible. Beautiful Feet Books helps make that possible. I especially love their Teaching Character Through Literature guide.
