All three of my kids LOVED both books in the Edge of Extinction series. These books have been my go-to for a boy birthday gift. Think Hunger Games meets Jurassic Park, for kids.

The Penderwicks 5-book series was one series we could not read through fast enough. You can buy the first four books as a set. I’m sure it won’t be long before they offer the whole complete series as one boxed-set, but for now you can purchase The Penderwicks At Last (book 5) separately.

Millions of people have read the #1 New York Times bestseller Wonder and have fallen in love with Auggie Pullman, an ordinary boy with an extraordinary face. Auggie & Me gives readers a special look at Auggie’s world through three new points of view. These stories are an extra peek at Auggie before he started at Beecher Prep and during his first year there. Readers get to see him through the eyes of Julian, the bully; Christopher, Auggie’s oldest friend; and Charlotte, Auggie’s new friend at school. Together, these three stories are a treasure for readers who don’t want to leave Auggie behind when they finish Wonder. Both these books bought together would make a special gift for an older elementary or middle school child. Add in a copy of the movie for an extra special treat!

E.B. White boxed-set…three beloved, timeless classics. Need I say more?

Do you have a reader who loves historical fiction? Look no further than this series by Lauren Tarshis. She brings true historical events to life with these fictional stories of kids who survived through the events.

I’m not sure which is more engaging, Katie DiCamillo’s amusing storyline of an adventurous pig named Mercy or Chris Van Dusen’s capturing illustrations. The younger kids on your gift list will enjoy digging into these short chapter books.

This series of books about Princess in Black will captivate girls who enjoy dressing  up like a princess and doing tea parties but who can also appreciate a ninja-look while battling “bad guys” with her brothers.

This sweet series of books for girls ages 8 to 12 weaves tales of a simpler time.
